Salary: $56,702.98 - $87,176.15 AnnuallyLocation : Asheboro, NCJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 202300536Department: Building InspectionsOpening Date: 11/07/2024Closing Date: ContinuousDescription Performs difficult skilled technical work reviewing blueprints, surveys, sketches and specifications for residential and commercial buildings projects to ensure compliance with the North Carolina State Building Codes, local ordinances and state rules and regulations and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Inspections Director and/or Inspections Deputy Director. Minimum Education and Experience Associates/Technical degree or higher with coursework in, engineering, architecture or construction management, or related field and six or more years' experience working in engineering, architecture, construction management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preference given to candidates licensed as a professional engineer or registered architect with design, construction, or inspection experience on Level III buildings and specialization in architecture, civil or architectural engineering, or fire protection engineering. Candidates with a four-year degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, civil or architectural engineering, or building construction and at least one year of building design, construction, or inspection experience while working under the direct supervision of a certified building inspector III, licensed engineer, registered architect, or licensed unlimited building contractor, at least at the level of supervisor in responsible charge of a minimum of two Level III buildings. A two-year degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, civil or architectural engineering or building construction and at least three years of building design, construction, or inspection experience while working under the direct supervision of a certified building inspector III, licensed engineer, registered architect, or licensed unlimited building contractor with at least one year at the level of supervisor in responsible charge of a minimum of two Level III buildings or an unlimited license as a building contractor with experience on a minimum of two Level III buildings, or a combination of education and experience.********Level III Building by Occupancy = Assembly, Education and Hazardous over 20,000 Sq./Ft, - Business, Factory and Mercantile over 60,000 Sq./Ft and Institutional over 10,000 Sq./ Ft.********* Special Comments Standard Level III Inspection Certificate issued from the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board in the Building trade within three (3) years of hire. Standard Level II Inspection Certificate issued from the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board in at least two (2) trades (mechanical, plumbing or electrical) within two (3) years of hire.
