Position Summary

Would you like to administer and interpret the county's development ordinances and help with the development, revision implementation, and administration of advanced and complex land use policies and procedures and of the County's comprehensive land use plan and it's implementing ordinances? Lincoln County is looking to hire either an Associate Planner or Senior Planner. Please check the qualifications for each and apply today!

Wage depends on experience and which level the applicant is qualified for:

Associate Planner: $27.15 - $30.55

Senior Planner: $29.32 - $35.55

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Planner:

  • Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in planning or related field

  • Two to Three years work experience in land use planning.

SUBSTITUTION NOTE:

A Master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work as determined by Lincoln County.

Senior Planner:

  • Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in community planning, engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration, geography, or related field.

  • Two- Three years professional experience in City, County, or regional planning.Oregon Driver's License required (within 30 days of hire) for either position.

SUBSTITUTION NOTE:

Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described above as determined by Lincoln County. A graduate degree in urban or regional planning from an accredited institution may be substituted for one year of experience.

Both positions require Oregon Drivers License within 30 days of hire.

We are looking for applicants who will (Associate Planner):

  • Have considerable knowledge of statewide land-use goals and guidelines.

  • Know principles and procedures of comprehensive land use planning.

  • Research methodology and statistical techniques

  • Understand social, environmental, and physical relationships of land use planning.

  • Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.

  • Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).

  • Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues,' and individuals inside and outside the county. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.

  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Show up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies, and procedures. Meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.

We are looking for applicants who will (Senior Planner):

  • Have thorough knowledge of Oregon Statewide planning goals and related rules and statutes.

  • Know the principles and practices of land use planning administration.

  • Know zoning codes and ordinances.

  • Know governmental and legal procedures and terminology in connection with planning.

  • Research methodology and statistical techniques.

  • Perform research, to compile technical data, and to write reports concerning proposed plans for economic and physical growth.

  • Understand social, environmental, and physical relationships of land use planning.

  • Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.

  • Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).

  • Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the county. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal working conditions.

Travel: Site visits and off-site meetings may be required in county vehicles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Lincoln County offers a comprehensive benefit package including vacation, holiday, and sick leave as well as medical, dental, vision which is paid at 90% by the County and 10% by the employee. The County's current contribution rate is 11%.

Regular and Trial Service employees working between 20 - 39 hours per week on a regular basis are eligible for pro-rated employee benefits.
