DIRECT REPORTS: Accountant, Finance Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

The Controller's primary purpose is to ensure financial controls exist, prepare financial information to be used in managing the business and to advise and support plant leadership with financial data and analysis to assist in the attainment of plant and corporate goals. Ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, budget preparation, fixed asset accounting, audits and analysis, salary payroll preparation and the maintenance of the standard costs system. Assists with physical inventory and reconciliation of results. This is a multi-facilities role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop and present annual site budgets and interim forecasts to management and Corporate Finance. Also prepare Defined Contributions reports on a weekly basis.

* Prepare monthly financial summaries for plant and senior management. Includes tracking spends to budget / forecast and reviewing variances with management teams to support the goals of the business.

* Manage the local general ledger and account reconciliation process: process adjusting journal entries and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.

* Analyze plant labor, variable costs, operational spending, and inventory transactions to identify key improvement opportunities to help plant management optimize site performance.

* Lead development and analysis of quarterly standard costs and manage the physical inventory and cycle count programs.

* Assist in preparing and analyzing capital expenditure requests, including tracking and reporting actual spends versus the approved levels.

* Monitor and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and SOX; includes assisting in the coordination of internal and external audits.

* Support the analytical and special projects needs of the operations management teams. Provide finance leadership for cost savings initiatives and track the improvements to gauge the effectiveness of management decisions.

* Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to monitor operating results, performance against budget and prior year, and other matters dealing with the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the facility.

* Responsible for monthly accounting close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

* Canadian Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA)

EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum of 5 years, preferably 7-10 years' experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment

* Must have knowledge of SAP.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Previous practice in manufacturing/Inventory management principles.

* Strong analytical abilities with knowledge of standard cost, costing, and accounting systems, are required.

* Experience working in SAP, OneStream or similar reporting systems is preferred.

* Working knowledge of company Accounting and Control Policies and Procedures.

* Proficiency in PC based word processing, spreadsheets and mainframe-based accounting systems is required.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
