Plant Incident Commander (Emergency Response Preparedness and Reporting Officer)Job Overview:The Plant Incident Commander is responsible for strategy, planning, and management of the Emergency Preparedness Program as it pertains to Environmental, Safety, and Security at the New River Valley Volvo Plant.The candidate would maintain plans for emergency scenarios, design and conduct appropriate drills and exercises, and overall provide expertise with all aspects of emergency response.The Incident Commander will also act as community liaison with local, county and state planning activities to include preparedness, mitigation and education.You will have responsibility for all aspects of an emergency response including quickly developing incident strategy and tactics, managing all incident operations, application of resources for life safety and property conservation.Responsibilities and duties:- Act as the Plant Fire Brigade Chief- Collect data, prepare, and submit information to the EPA and VDEQ based upon chemical reporting requirements- Coordinate and conduct appropriate drills and exercises- Assist the Medical Emergency Response Team Captain- Lead and train the Spill Response Team- Strategic thinking and an ability to envision the future as it relates to emergency planning and business continuity- Conduct employee education on related programs for all levels of the organizationQualifications:- Minimum of 10 years' experience working and/or leading fire response activities, medical emergencies and spill response- Understanding of Local and Federal regulations (EPA, VDEQ, VOSH, OSHA, NFPA, FEMA and DHS)- Hazardous Materials Management, Safety, Emergency and Disaster preparedness and response experience- Cogent clear communication style, executive presence, and influential with strong written/verbal skills- National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 credentials strongly preferred- Emergency training and certifications such as Advanced Life Support, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, or similar preferred- Job location requiring Process Safety Management (PSM) experience preferred- Some degree education required, Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline preferredBase with bonus program, relocation, great benefits.
