About this Opportunity Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Plant Maintenance Crew Supervisor to join our Water Treatment team and help lead maintenance and preventative maintenance efforts at our Northwest Water Treatment Plant. Brunswick County's Northwest Water Treatment Plant is a 24 million gallon per day (MGD) drinking water treatment facility located in Northern Brunswick County near Leland, North Carolina. This facility is currently being expanded to 48 MGD and is in the process of adding reverse osmosis as part of the water treatment process.The Plant Maintenance Crew Supervisor is responsible for directing plant maintenance staff in work duties and working closely with the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent to coordinate and schedule plant maintenance activities. The Plant Maintenance Crew Supervisor will also oversee the work of contractors who carry out preventative maintenance and facility repairs. Work includes:
- Ensuring maintenance activities are documented for all equipment repairs and inspections.
- Supervising employees in maintaining preventative maintenance program documentation, parts inventories, and tool inventories.
- Ensuring that the facilities are kept clean, organized, and ready for tours.
The Plant Maintenance Crew Supervisor will also be responsible for performing maintenance work, including troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, disassembling, reassembling, installing, testing, and operating various machines, and equipment (with a focus on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical components) to help ensure the delivery of a safe and potable water supply to the County.If you are a mechanically inclined, self-motivated leader with the ability to work independently while exercising good judgement, we'd love to talk to you! This position reports directly to the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent and is considered an ESSENTIAL Employee position under County Policy. Education and Experience High school diploma (or GED) AND seven (7) years' maintenance experience in a water/wastewater treatment facility; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Valid NC or SC driver license required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity/experience utilizing work order software is required.
- Experience with membrane treatment facilities highly preferred.
- NC AWWA Grade IV Maintenance Technologist Certification and/or NC Grade B Water Treatment certification highly preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including motor vehicles, numerous pumps, tractors, lawnmowers, generators, water pumps,etc.,and mechanic hand tools. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements include the ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, lift, and bend.
