Job Description :

Plant Manager

A well-respected manufacturer with multiple locations is seeking a highly technical and experienced plant manager for their Northern California area plant. This role will have full responsibility for the entire design and construction of a state of the art plant that will be the leader in its industry. As a result, any candidate MUST be experienced with machine and tool design, automation including robotics and CNC machining, plant design and layouts, and the process of proposing, justifying, procuring, and installing brand new multi-million dollar production machines in the plastics industry. We know this is a specific skill set, and we want to hear from you if that sounds like something that interests you - regardless of the income level that it will take to secure your full commitment to this project. We need someone who will make this their #1 professional priority until this plant reaches full production rate - and even past that, ideally.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree (MS or MBA) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine design and build, tooling design and build, and/or plant startups. THIS REQUIREMENT CANNOT BE WAIVED.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Proven experience in plastics manufacturing processes, such as Injection Molding, Thermoforming, Extrusion, Compounding, or Blow Molding.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software, understanding of GD&T, FMEA, and other engineering practices. We don't necessarily need an Engineer (although that would be great, but at a minimum you'll be talking to, and working with, a lot of engineers).
  • Project Management: Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with proven ability to deliver results on time and within budget. Greenfield startup is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) certification is desirable.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment and foster a culture of respect and positive work relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous improvement, waste reduction, and effective use of resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the plant build, including design, development, and production of all related machinery, equipment, automation, and tooling.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, managers, technicians, and third party vendors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product and customer specifications are met.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunity for professional growth and advancement
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
