Job Overview:
The Plant Manager oversees the achievement of objectives and the execution of strategies in cost control, safety, transportation, and operations. This role aligns with the company's purpose, values, and strategic direction by leading a cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Leadership & Culture:
- Instills a culture aligned with company purpose, values, and leadership expectations.
- Coaches and mentors the team, fostering leadership development and continuous cultural improvement.
Safety & Compliance:
- Promotes safety awareness and enforces ergonomic, safety, and environmental policies.
- Ensures proper incident analysis and communication.
Strategic Planning & Goal Alignment:
- Sets site goals aligned with corporate objectives and develops action plans to achieve them.
- Drives urgency and accountability for meeting short- and mid-term objectives with measurable metrics.
Operations Management:
- Leads operational excellence in 5S, inventory management, asset utilization, labor efficiency, scrap reduction, and machine uptime.
- Implements processes and standards while coaching all levels on waste elimination and continuous improvement.
Financial Management:
- Understands financial reports and KPIs, ensuring integrity and timeliness of results.
- Prepares annual budgets, mid-term plans, and capital acquisition requests to support profitable growth.
- Uses data to drive decisions on staffing, shifts, and equipment investments.
Customer Focus:
- Resolves issues proactively and ensures continuous improvement through shared lessons and best practices.
Workforce Development:
- Ensures proper staffing levels through collaboration with Human Resources, updating job descriptions, and targeted recruiting.
- Drives retention by executing performance appraisals, training plans, and succession planning.
- Identifies high-potential team members for development and mentoring, building trust and teamwork.
Compliance & Standards:
- Monitors adherence to company standards and ensures improvements through internal audits.
- Maintains compliance with regulations and drives continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Promotes positive relationships between at all levels as well as addressing non-productive behaviors.
Success Criteria:
- Ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and timeliness.
- Achieves excellence in 5S, lean principles, and operational performance metrics.
Education, Experience, and Exposure:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing management and team leadership.
- Exposure: P&L management and strategic planning
Limited travel is expected for this position.
