Purpose and Scope of Job:Manages daily operations to ensure continuous, timely workflow through the facility in support of corporate goals as set by management.Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily operations including manufacturing, assembly, repair, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and maintenance.
    • Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize productivity, quality, and efficiency.
    • Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet production and cost targets
    • Lead and assist in planning projects of varying scope and duration to accommodate changes in business strategy, customer requirements and unforeseen contingencies.
    • Apply comprehensive technical knowledge and management experience to analyze and resolve complex work problems, or assist other employees in problem solving.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technicians, engineers, and support staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and support to team members.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all components and assemblies meet or exceed industry standards and customer specifications.
    • Implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures to guarantee consistent service excellence.
    • Address and resolve any quality issues or customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and training to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the service center's budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
    • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures to achieve profitability targets.
    • Analyze financial reports and provide insights to senior management.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and quality, to include training, proper and expedient communication, as well as all administrative functions.
    • Utilize data and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements to integrate innovative practices.
    • Develop, implement and manage initiatives to provide manufacturing and assembly services for all facilities and subsidiaries.
    • Manage repair and maintenance of machines, driving improvements through management of OEE
  • Customer Relations:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
    • Ensure exceptional customer service and address any issues or concerns promptly.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and provide solutions.
    • Partner with SMA Sales Managers in cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and prospective customers.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations or related discipline with ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent experience in repair or reliability services. Advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing plant operations and leading teams in a maintenance, manufacturing, assembly, and/or industrial repair facility.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as industry standards and best practices.
  • A working knowledge of the operating characteristics of rotating machinery.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, produce databases and write reports.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to travel (occasionally).

Work Conditions & Physical Environment:Duties are performed in an industrial environment.
