Plant Manager - Asheville, NC (Enka, NC)
Position Summary
Reporting to the VP & General Manager, the Plant Manager directs and coordinates overall Conductive Fiber business operations to meet market requirements and company objectives for sales and profits, plant safety, production and inventory levels, quality, cost, delivery, innovation and environmental compliance.
Essential Functions
- Directing Plant / Facility operations, including production planning, inventory levels, shipping requirements, labor oversight
- Assisting sales functions including NAFTA and distributor sales
- Directing R&D and Improvement Processes including travel to vendor facilities
- Travel to customer sites
- Assisting international sales efforts, technical and commercial support, periodic travel
- Site environmental compliance
Secondary Functions
- Attend corporate review and business planning meetings
- Community relations
- Site relations and lease negotiations
- Labor contract negotiations
- Attend trade shows
- Oversee import-export compliance
- Epicor ERP System development
- QA database program assistance
- Local computer network assistance
- Keep abreast of best practices in manufacturing and environmental compliance
Position Specifications
- BS degree in technical discipline (Graduate level degree in business preferable but not essential)
- 6+ years of Manufacturing Operations experience
- 2+ years of Sales or Technical Support experience
- General knowledge of Industrial Fibers products: manufacturing, equipment capabilities, secondary textile processes and customer end uses
- Must understand textile markets and oversee new product development to meet customer needs
- Solid experience directing / supervising manufacturing plant operations; including mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC and Process Fume Scrubbers, personnel and labor issues (union experience preferred), production and inventory control, shipping procedures including import/export compliance
- Proficient with business improvement methodologies including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC, DOE and other continuous improvement best practices
- Sales experience and direct customer interaction highly preferred, this could include technical support in lieu of commercial responsibility
- Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of Business software relating to customer service, production and inventory control, engineering and quality control systems
- Must have proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels of the company, including customers, suppliers and other company facilities
