The Plant Operations Manager at Nomad GCS is a strategic and tactical leader responsible for the daily operational activities of the manufacturing plant. This role requires the management of the organization's operations budget, people, schedule, equipment, and facilities while ensuring a safe, efficient, and cost-conscious production environment. The Plant Operations Manager will oversee the staffing model for the plant and lead the operations team. This leader will be accountable for the plant's performance, achieving results on a daily basis, meeting delivery timelines, and ensuring customer satisfaction.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITY:Leadership
  • Create a high-performance culture that drives ownership and continuous improvement at all levels.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering projects on-time, on-quality, and on-budget.
  • Establish and utilize effective employee hiring and training practices. Analyze capacity and constraints to determine direct and indirect staffing needs.
  • Develop and motivate staff by managing responsibilities, providing support, and ensuring accountability.
  • Forecast and maintain the financial budget; manage overall operation costs and capital expenditures to ensure budget commitments are achieved.
  • Assist in enhancing the company's image and culture by collaborating with customers, suppliers, community representatives, and employees while maintaining and enforcing ethical business practices.
  • Collaborate and partner with other departments (Sales, Human Resources, Procurement, Finance, Technology) to meet company goals and objectives.
Manufacturing Operations
  • Develop and maintain operational reporting metrics. Report on performance to plan as required, highlighting successes and developing detailed get-well plans when needed.
  • Incorporate lean manufacturing principles across plant operations. Collaborate with the Innovative Solutions Group and Engineering to drive industrial efficiency.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees, as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities, enhancing value-added processes, maximizing yield, and reducing waste throughout production, inventory, and procurement systems.
  • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Utilize software products to improve, monitor, organize, and document the work being performed. Utilize real-time dashboards to communicate project plans, completion levels, and bottlenecks. Review equipment, structures, manpower and materials to proactively identify bottlenecks or roadblocks.
  • Coordinate procedures for facility/equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines. Maintain the tools and technology required to drive excellence and reliability.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
  • Ability to always lead by example. Motivate, guide, develop, and direct your employees as they work. Constantly taking charge.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Professional office environment with regular interaction with guests, clients, team members, and vendors.
  • Typical indoor manufacturing environment. Noise level is usually moderate. Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are required when on the production floor.
  • Everyday workwear must be business casual/smart casual and appropriate for the office environment.
  • Subject to temperatures fluctuations if/when job duties require time on the production floor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing Operations, or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage P&L results
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
