Plant/Packaging Operator - Lancesoft : Job Details

**Position:** Plant/Packaging Operator**Location:** Bapchule, AZ 85121 United States**Duration:** 12 months**Pay:** $20/hrPosition Objective:This position is responsible for supporting daily operations within the plant and warehouse. The role focuses on managing the seed treatment and packaging process, with an emphasis on operating both manual and automated seed counting and bagging equipment. Maintaining accuracy in seed weights, bag weights, inventory, appearance, and treatment application is critical.Primary Responsibilities:

• Seed Operations: Participate in daily seed counting, bagging, and treatment processes.
• Sampling: Operate and manage automatic seed sampling equipment to collect accurate samples from each lot as directed.
• Packaging Support: Assist in seed counts for packaging and quality assurance (QA) sample collection. Monitor the appearance of packaging, including bag printing, placards, barcodes, and wrapping quality.
• Data Management: Enter plant monitoring data related to the treating and packaging areas as instructed.
• Process Monitoring: Oversee the seed treatment process to ensure application accuracy.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform general repairs on bag placers, baggers, treaters, and palletizers during the season and during shutdowns.
• Cleanup: Assist in cleaning the treating and bagging areas during variety changes.
• Inventory Management: Help management with sorting and inventory counts of carryover stock during the carryover season. Support blending processes by seed count and assist in raw goods inventory counts.
• Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by management and maintain good housekeeping practices.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Decision-Making Responsibilities:

• Equipment Malfunctions: Identify and resolve issues with baggers, bag placer scales, or packaging equipment.
• Seed Count Discrepancies: Detect inaccuracies in seed counts and make necessary corrections or retests.
• Packaging Issues: Address printing or label quality concerns to ensure clean, distinct application.
• Calibration Problems: Diagnose and recalibrate treatment equipment as needed or escalate to management.

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Technical and Mechanical Skills: Experience in equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to handle 50 lb. bags as needed and perform tasks involving stacking bags.
• Teamwork and Communication: Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication skills.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor and maintain high standards for packaging and seed treatment accuracy.
