Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pilot Plant R&D Technician to join our team in the Pilot Plant. The ideal candidate will have strong laboratory or pilot plant skills, a commitment to safety, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively in a team environment with minimal direct supervision.
Job Description
- Prepare experimental refining catalysts using established procedures, including crystallization, ion exchange, and calcination in the Pilot Plant, on a 5 to 20 Kg scale.
- Conduct experiments, generate reliable data, and interpret results for FCC catalyst research projects.
- Coordinate with support/service groups to ensure timely delivery of results.
- Organize and store data in electronic databases, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to plan the next set of experiments, providing regular updates on progress.
- Process data into tables, graphs, and PowerPoint presentations for sharing with the supervisor and team as needed.
- Perform the full range of refining catalyst preparation and evaluation methods.
- Operate in a larger-than-lab-scale environment, handling up to 120 Kg samples.
- Identify hazards and work safely in accordance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines.
- Assist in the safe handling of chemicals and equipment while maintaining a clean and safe laboratory/pilot plant environment.
Skills Required
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a pilot/prototype laboratory setting or manufacturing operations
- Knowledge of EH&S protocols and maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory is highly desired.
- Strong laboratory or pilot plant-scale skills, with detailed record-keeping and a thorough understanding of safe chemical handling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 85% of the job will be at the machine area processing chemical blends on a larger scale and 15% desk/lab.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with standard computer programs (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel)
- Experience in zeolite catalysis is a plus.
- Looking for a candidate who has good punctual skills, communication is key in this role.
- Able to operate mobile equipment
- Can lift and carry 40-50lbs
Education/Certification/Training
- High School Diploma or GED
- An Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and must have the ability to become certified in operating a fork truck.
Pay Rate
- Up to $23 per hour qualifications.
