Mastec is searching for a Plant Salvage Specialist to assist our Environmental Energy Group (EEG) on a large transmission line project in Nevada. This role will join a team that is responsible for a major plant survey project. Roles would include salvaging protected species, eradicating noxious weeds, and surveying the pre-construction site. This role will be a road warrior spending most days doing field work from Reno to Las Vegas.
Job Description Summary:
- Demonstrates basic understanding of applicable environmental laws, environmental best management practices, field construction practices, employee environmental training, and working with local, state and federal land management agencies.
- Works with construction management and government agencies to ensure comprehensive environmental compliance throughout all phases of transmission line construction.
- Complete pre-construction surveying within the project right-of-way and surrounding areas.
- Monitors the Project area for species of concern.
- Implements appropriate flagging and signage to comply with environmental concerns and mitigation.
- Conducts noxious weed monitoring and management.
- Develops Project plans to ensure environmental and agency compliance.
- Preparing and overseeing all biological management plans, obtain project specific permits, and manage all field biological activities including preconstruction, construction, and post construction monitoring and surveys.
- Conduct Project Environmental training for all project employees, subcontractors and visitors to project site and develops Site Specification Environmental Plans for project work sites.
- Prepare and maintain daily and weekly reports as specified in the project documents
- Participate in weekly progress meetings.
- Perform site inspections to identify areas of potential risk related to permit requirements.
- Verify that work is executed according to drawings and specifications;
- Coordinates with Owners staff and governing agencies on a regular basis to track Project activities and ensure consistent communications Project wide.
- Maintains good communications with the Owner's Construction Inspection team, the EC Source Lead Environmental Inspector, and work crews.
Education and/ or Work Experience:
- Bachelors Degree
- 1-5 Years experience
Skills & Abilities:
- CPESC Certification
- ACOE Wetland Certification
- Strong organizational and document management skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain effectiveness with multiple priorities
- Professional demeanor; remain calm and emotionally controlled under pressure
- Detailed oriented and high attention to accuracy
