Job DescriptionOverviewWe are seeking a Process Control Systems Specialist (SCADA) for a full-time opportunity located in Newport News, VA.The Process Control Systems Specialist (SCADA) is responsible for managing and overseeing the water treatment plant's information systems and communication infrastructure. This role involves supervising the installation, maintenance, and support of various technological systems and devices, ensuring efficient operation and continuous improvement. The specialist will also handle budget preparation, employee supervision, and strategic planning to enhance the department's performance.Responsibilities: Manage the water treatment plant's information systems, including SCADA, telephones, mobile devices, radios, and fiber connectivity.Supervise installation, maintenance, and support of PCs, laptops, peripherals, and software for plant personnelHandle installation, configuration, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers, remote telemetry units, and related equipmentOversee budget preparation, purchasing, financial transactions, payroll, performance management, employee relations, and work prioritizationPlan, design, contract, implement, and install major voice and data communication projectsResearch, develop, and implement strategic initiatives for continuous improvementAct as the primary liaison with software vendors, consultants, engineers, and city employeesQualificationsEducation & Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer or information science, Computer Network Engineering, or related field with 5-7 years of experience in industrial controls (PLC, HMI, LAN/WAN)Programmable logic controllers, analog instrumentation, quality control analyzers, remote telemetry unitsClient/server environments, Open VMS, Windows OS, word processing, spreadsheet, and database applicationsHigh-speed local and wide area networking, voice and data communications systemsPerform calculations for engineering unit conversion, control strategies, and financial transactionsApply economic and accounting principles to analyze and report budgeting dataAdditional Requirements:Acceptable background check, valid driver's licenseSatisfactory audio exam resultsLifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects (10-20 pounds)
