Our mission is to develop the best fire protective and fire training products possible to enhance the safety of the global workforce.The PLC Support Engineer, Training Solutions is responsible for designing and assisting in the installation of PLC systems and instruments to control live fire training structures for first responders.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Design and assist in the installation of PLC systems and instruments to control live fire training structures for first responders.
  • Develop and document technical design, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Configure systems using PLC and HMI.
  • Test, analyze, and validate system operation and data for proper functionality.
  • Collaborate with the technical sales team to understand and deliver on customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with service team to upgrade older PLC cabinets.
  • Testing & Commissioning New Projects
  • Electrical Designs and Solutions, Cable sizing, conduit sizing etc.
  • Electrical Power Consumption Needs
  • PLC (Siemens) Programming & Modifications
  • Electrical Installations and Terminations at SCU, Props and Control Cabinets
  • PLC problem solving reading the program in real time to identify issues beyond the user interface.
  • Setting Up Remote Connections and Data Logging
  • Reading and modifying schematic drawings.
  • Control cabinet design and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field desired, with 3-5 years of experience in a similar position taken into consideration.
  • Good command or ability to learn the following software:
    • eCatcher 4.1, Siemens SIMATIC Manager Step 7 V5.5 SP3,
    • Siemens SIMATIC WinCC flexible (2008) SP3 Upd3
    • Siemens TIA Portal, V14-V18
    • WinCC V7, TightVNC Viewer,
    • MS-Office 365 + Visio
    • Autodesk DWG TrueView
    • Autodesk Vault Professional
    • Autodesk Electrical / OrCAD / KiCAD
  • Familiar with industrial networking and traditional automation communication protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills.
  • Technical skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, basic email and smartphone.
PREFERENCES:
  • Credentialing from Siemens: Programming, Service, Safety Engineering
  • Fire service background
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Travel of up to 25%.Frequently travel is outside the employee's local area and overnight and could be on short notice.
  • Highly flexible and able to react constructively and with a positive attitude to multiple demands, shifting priorities, change and unexpected events.
  • May be required at times to perform light lifting and carrying (50 lbs) and up to 8 hours a day standing/walking/driving.
COMPENSATION
  • $80,000-$120,000 per year depending on experience
