The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Plumber position. This position is based out of the Winnebago Correctional Center in Winnebago, WI (Winnebago County).
Position SummaryThis position performs duties as a skilled Plumber, utilizing the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the Plumbing Trades. Inspects, repairs, and maintains all plumbing and related mechanical operations, including heating and ventilating, and the distribution systems in accordance with the provisions of the plumbing codes, pertinent plans, and specifications or work orders.
Salary InformationStarting hourly rate will be $44.88, $45.59, or $46.34
per hour , depending on the amount of paid leave selected. The position is in pay schedule/range is 04-00. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Job DetailsThis position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site. Anticipated schedule will be day-time hours Monday - Friday. Specifics can be discussed at time of interview. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt. This position will occasionally provide coverage at other DOC worksites and most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. QualificationsSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must possess, maintain, and carry a valid license issued by the State of Wisconsin, Department of Safety and Professional Services, to allow for performing plumbing installation, maintenance service and repair of institution equipment and systems as an unrestricted Master Plumber -OR- possess a Journeyman Plumber license with the ability to obtain a Master Plumber license prior to the end of the twelve-month probationary period. This would include required continuing education to maintain these credentials.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and meet State of Wisconsin fleet requirements . Employees will be required to maintain a valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a fleet vehicle.
- This position may be required to work mandatory overtime, weekends or holidays in urgent situations.
