Overview
The Facility Services plumber oversees all plumbing activity in the hospital facility and properties. Uses blueprints, sketches and drawings to renovate, construct, and install facilities and /or equipment. Inspects major piping systems and sub-systems regularly and performs preventative maintenance and repairs as required, in compliance with established standards and codes as related to renovation and construction work. Operates, maintains and repairs such equipment as boilers, pipes, pipe fittings, and fixtures, air compressors, pumps, reducing stations, traps, valves and heaters, gas and oxygen lines in areas that are renovated or constructed. Assists with operation and maintenance of ventilating and air conditioning systems.
The Plumber reports directly to the Assistant Director of Facilities Management.
Responsibilities
1. Monitor and troubleshoot major plumbing and gas breakdowns by diagnosing trouble and implementing a corrective plan of action.
2. Install, connect and test plumbing and gas fixtures.
3. Follow a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance on equipment and keep all maintenance requests to a minimum 95% current status.
4. Provide technical guidance and direction to other personnel.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Education:a.) High School Diploma plus plumbing training. Plumbing training may be from formal classes, military education, trade school, or apprentice program.
2. Licensure/Certification:a.) As required by city code.
3. Work Experience:a.) At least five years' experience at the journeyman level.
