Job Description :

This requisition is for graduating high school seniors affiliated with the PNC PartnerUp Employment program. Various positions are available, including but not limited to, in the following areas:

Ability to clean patient rooms, public spaces, and collect trash and biohazardous material. Familiarity with using vacuum, wide vacuum, mop, wringer, burnisher, ladder, and extractor is necessary. Ability to assist family members and patients of all ages. Ability to identify and perform light maintenance requests. Strong customer service skills required. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients and coworkers. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values. Cleaning and major surface maintenance experience in a hospital setting preferred but not required. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, as well as exhibits a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently. May work in any location on client premises. Responsibilities may differ among locations, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

  • Performs daily food service related duties necessary to meet customer/patient feeding deadlines.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and sanitary work area appropriate for food and service ware handling including mopping, sweeping, and dishwashing.
  • Uses department equipment in a safe, efficient, and confident manner.
  • Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures including proper food safety procedures.
  • Stays current with training requirements and safety in-services.
  • Serves internal and external customer needs promptly, accurately, and politely utilizing department and University Hospitals service standards.
  • Ability to work in advanced skill areas such as diet office and/or cashier.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by the manager.
  • Escorts and transports patients to and from the various nursing divisions as well as other ancillary departments ensuring patient safety during transport.
  • Assists patients when necessary to change clothes and dress into hospital gowns.
  • Assists in moving patients onto and off the x-ray tables as needed.
  • Delivers and picks up x-rays and related items from various divisions and the main Radiology File Room.
  • Coordinates patient transport with technologists and nurses to avoid delays and to ensure department efficiency.
  • Previous employment in Radiology, hospital, or patient care setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, knowledge of wheelchairs, hospital beds, and transport carts.

Patient Care Nurse Assistant

The Patient Care Nursing Associate (PCNA) completes patient care activities as delegated by the RN. PCAs perform duties including, but not limited to, ADLs, vital signs, I and Os, 12 lead ECG, bladder scan, hygiene, and venipuncture where applicable. Familiarity with using wheelchairs, EKG equipment, patient assistive devices, and patient care equipment specific to the assigned population is required. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic. Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients and customers, and possesses basic computer data entry skills. Experience in a large teaching hospital preferred. One year of job stability preferred.

The Sterile Processing Technician role is responsible for receiving, sorting, decontaminating, reassembling, packaging, sterilizing, storing, and distributing reusable patient care equipment, instrument trays, and supplies. Specific job duties include: Performs decontamination procedures. Prepares reusable patient care items for sterilization. Sterilizes using appropriate sterilization methods. Picks surgical case carts, stores, and distributes reusable patient care equipment, instrument trays, and supplies. Participates as a productive member of the O.R. processing team. Maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers. Participates as a productive member of the perioperative process team.

Only candidates who are referred by PNC Partner-Up and meet the minimum qualifications for their respective roles will be considered at this time.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in a hospital setting preferred but not required.

Patient Care Nurse Assistant

High School Equivalent / GED BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during UH Orientation.

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year of food service experience preferred.
  • High School Equivalent / GED required.
  • BCLS certified preferred, but will be provided by the hospital if necessary.

Sterile Processing

High School Equivalent / GED. Graduate of Sterile Processing program preferred. Must become certified through CBSPD or IAHSCMM within 2 years and maintain certification thereafter.
