FeaturedBallad Health Medical Associates | Support Services | Full TimeDescriptionJob Description:Summary:The Point of Care Coordinator is directly responsible for the oversight of the Point of Care activities within the lab. The Coordinator will provide periodic updates of point of care testing directly to the Laboratory's Medical and Administrative Directors. The Coordinator is directly responsible for the review of quality control, instrument linearity checks, instrument maintenance as needed, and compliance activities within patient care areas and follows through on any variances. This individual will make recommendations for corrective action to the Laboratory's Medical and Administrative Directors. The Coordinator will oversee laboratory staff that performs point of care review assignments. The Coordinator will work closely with the Laboratory Leadership at both the Tennessee and Virginia laboratories to assure standardization of the point of care policies and procedures as well as compliance to regulatory guidelines. The Coordinator is responsible for keeping abreast of changing regulatory requirements related to point of care, to include the updating as well as developing and implementing of new point of care protocols and procedures as needed. The Coordinator will oversee State Exemptions, evaluates point of care instruments and their applicability within the hospital, competency requirements, educational requirements and serves as the resource for patient care areas and on-site regulatory inspectors. The Coordinator is responsible for gathering the appropriate documentation, writing the exemption request as well as the presenting of material to the State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Licensing Board as needed for approval.The Coordinator will serve as co-chairman of the Point of Care Steering Committee. This individual will serve as a resource to patient care areas and is responsible for the assurance of follow up to any problems or concerns voiced during direct or in direct contact with hospital(s) staff.Requirements:Minimum four years work experience in a hospital medical laboratory is required. Experience as a Clinical Instructor or a formal background in education is desirable. Requires computer literacy and skills in statistical analysis. Training can be provided for these skills. Good verbal and written communication skills are important attributes for this position.
