Job Description :

Under the supervision of the Manager of Quality Assurance and Point of Care, the Point of Care Coordinator will be responsible for oversight of the Point of Care program across the Charity Health System in coordination with the leadership of patient care units and the hospital education staff and will support and assist the Manager of Quality Assurance and Point of Care with compliance of the Clinical Laboratories' Quality Management System. Demonstrates knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Quality Assurance Activities and Regulatory Standards. Works with various departments to assure quality and compliance with established policies, procedures, internal hospital requirements, and external regulatory agencies. This position exercises a degree of latitude in carrying out daily tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

Supports current point of care information systems.

Implements new tests, equipment and programs.

Develops and manages policies and procedures.

Trains and test competencies of operators.

Monitors inventory and quality control.

Oversees the proficiency testing program.

Records auditing for risk identification and management.

Maintains the document control system.

Obtains an understanding of the principles of the tests performed and working knowledge of instruments.

Completes assignments in an efficient and effective manner.

Keeps abreast with current progress in regulatory standards, laboratory technology and instrumentation.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: 2 years of relevant work history is required if master's degree in chemical, biological, or laboratory sciences. 4 years of relevant work experience is required with bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or laboratory sciences. Must meet NYS DOH Qualifications for Laboratory Supervisor.

Education: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or laboratory sciences is required.

Licenses / Certifications: Must have or be eligible for the New York State Department of Health license as a laboratory technologist. National registration preferred (NCA/ASCP).
