Position Information Working Title Police Officer (2 positions available) Department University Police-0823 Requisition Number S_240709 Posting Open Date 07/18/2024 Application Review Date: (To ensure consideration, please submit all application materials before review date) 10/10/2024 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Description of Work Sworn police officer who will perform all related duties including, but not limited to: patrolling University property on foot, bicycle, or by vehicle, to engage the University community and public for the prevention of crimes; detect and interrupt crimes in progress; enforce city, state and federal laws; enforce traffic regulations; conduct investigations on criminal offenses and traffic accidents to gather evidence, obtain witnesses and make arrests; provide documentation and testimony to Judicial Board and courts; and provide general security for University properties and citizens on campus to ensure a safe environment for all.The University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks to attract and retain a high performing and diverse workforce in which employees' differences are respected and valued to better meet the varying needs of the diverse populations we serve. Must meet minimum qualifications to attend and successfully complete the Basic Training Academy as provided by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. Minimum age 21 years. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Preferred Qualifications State Deputy Sheriff Commission certification, Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center certification, and CPR certification. Specialized training in defensive tactics, firearms, pursuit driving, and hazmat. Pre-Placement Driving Record Review Required Yes Physical Required Yes Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
