This is a full-time position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. This position requires working 40 hours per week.Summary: The Investigator position is vital to daily operations of the Police Department.Essential Functions of the Job: Thefollowing duties are normal for this position. - Conducts criminal investigations and/or responds to dispatched calls involving narcotics, vice, homicide, rape, assault, abduction, missing persons, juvenile, child abuse/neglect, abuse of elderly, auto/property theft, burglary, robbery, gang activity, financial fraud, forgery , or other crimes.
- Enforces all applicable codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations (including traffic, criminal and civil) in order to protect life and property, prevent crime, and promote security.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 40 semester college hours from an accredited college/university or have obtained at least 400 hours of advanced law enforcement related training, a combination of college hours and training hours to equal 400 equivalent training hours. Must possess a valid driver's license and no felony convictions.Requirements: Four (4) years of previous law enforcement experience must be GA P.O.S.T. certified (or able to obtain equivalence of training) and complete a minimum of twenty hours of Georgia P.O.S.T. approved service training annually. Must have completed a minimum of 1 year in a specialized investigative unit.
