Description & Details
Performs licensed law enforcement duties as an armed police officer enforcing the constitution of the United States, the laws of North Dakota, the municipal ordinances of the City of Fargo, and the rules and regulations of NDSU.
Responsible for police patrol of university facilities and grounds, enforcing institutional rules and regulations, state laws, and city ordinances. Duties include conducting and writing investigative reports, maintaining traffic regulations and issuing citations, reporting unsafe conditions, checking building security and responding to alarms, protecting life and institutional property and other duties associated with a university police officer position. Position also provides for initial response and assessment activities in evaluating incidences consistent with Crisis Management Response plan related events.
Work Schedule:
Will work various shifts with the possibility of nights, weekends, and holidays to cover 24/7 police patrol responsibilities.

$56,000/year
Minimum Qualifications:
* Two years of college or three years of law enforcement or military experience may be substituted for the college requirement.
* Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Must have left previous law enforcement employment in good standing.
* North Dakota Peace Officer License (POST Board) or ability to license after appointment, valid driver's license.
* Must be able to render credible testimony in the court of law.
* Must not be subject to the restrictions or prohibitions as set forth by the Lautenberg Amendment of the Gun Control Act of 1968.
* As a part of the post offer/pre-hire, selected candidate must pass a physical exam to include vision, corrected to 20/40, and hearing test, take a psychological assessment with results satisfactory to NDSU, and submit to and successfully pass a background check.
* After hire, must successfully complete recruit police officer training program and successfully complete a one-year probationary period as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree
* Law enforcement experience in a university setting or as a School Resource Officer
* Experience in Law enforcement with a demonstrated increase in police responsibilities
