Position SummaryThis position will serve as a Police Officer on the Kickapoo Valley Reserve (KVR) to provide quality customer service, maintain visitor safety and security, patrol campsites, trails, and buildings, register campers and trail users and collect fees. This position will be responsiblefor issuing citations, investigating complaints, appear, and testify in legal proceedings, offering assistance to local law enforcement when requested, and work in cooperation with KVR staff and other law enforcement agencies. This position will enforce Administrative Rules of the Reserve and state laws, as applicable. This position will provide Information and assistance to visitors as needed and attend training as required to maintain enforcement certification, and attend training as required to maintain enforcement certification. For more information, please view the position description.Salary InformationThe starting rate for the Police Officer (schedule/range 36-63) position will be $20.00 per hour - $22.00 per hour depending upon candidate qualifications and experience.Job DetailsCandidates must have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with a good driving record. The selected candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, medical examination, vision screening, and fitness exam.This position requires the ability to walk over steep, rough terrain with potentially thick vegetation, lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation, work a flexible schedule up to eight hours, including in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, nights, and weekends to meet operational needs.This position is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year). Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions. Limited Term Employment positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.Due to the nature of the position, the DOA/Kickapoo Valley Reserve Management Board will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas.
