Summary/Objective:

Under the general supervision, responsible for directing daily operations of the patrol and preparing assignments to security plans, policies and staffing resources. Assists Police Chief on all campus security issues at Roosevelt Warm Springs and the Cave Spring Center. This includes patrol, community policing, criminal investigations, administration, etc., assuring that law and order are maintained. Ensures laws and ordinances are enforced, and that measures are implemented to prevent crimes and to protect lives and property. Manages several Management Plans for the Roosevelt Warm Springs and Cave Spring campuses.

* Supervises and plans work of assigned staff;

* Answers alarms and investigates disturbances;

* Coordinates operational plans with other law enforcement agencies;

* Manages the Investigation for both the RWS and CS campuses and conducts an annual review of the Incidents with summary sheets;

* Develops and presents educational in-house programs for RWS and CS Campuses;

* Maintains security of premises;

* Responds to fires, natural disasters, or other hazardous events;

* Prepares and distributes daily report of activities and irregularities;

* Develops security staffing, shift and contingency plans.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position supervises staff. This position will oversee the daily security operations of RWS and CSC including the services provided to students.

Work Environment:

This role requires the ability to be reactive emergency, natural or man-made disaster, and routine peace keeping environments with travel from site to site. The position is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration; potentially hostile environments; extensive public contact. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be very loud due to sirens, firearm training, etc.

Physical Demands:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in a law enforcement setting and an office setting; restrain or subdue individuals; walk, stand, sit, or run for prolonged periods of time; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; occasionally climb and balance; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderate weights; frequently lift and/or move moderate to heavy weights; occasionally lift and/or move heavy weights; operate office equipment including use of computer keyboard; requires a sense of touch, finger dexterity, and gripping with hands and fingers; ability to speak and hear to exchange information; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations; ability to operate and use specialized law enforcement tools and equipment including guns and handcuffs. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Working Conditions:

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. This position requires working in various shifts, including evenings and weekends. This position may occasionally require longer hours and weekend work.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

* Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and or Access.

* Skills in investigating of criminal cases and presentment to Court Systems.

Under general supervision, patrols assigned areas to detect and prevent crime, responds to emergency situations. Conducts or assists in conducting investigations involving criminal activity in the facility or institution. Operates and inspects emergency vehicles in the performance of routine and specialized duties. Supervises, assigns and reviews the work of shift security staff.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the required education and experience, possess one or more of the following:

* Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or closely related field

* Seven (7) years of experience as a Police Officer

* Four or more years' experience as a Law Enforcement Supervisor

* Five or more years as an Investigator with a number of training courses

* Georgia P.O.S.T Instructor certification.

* One or more years' experience developing and presenting educational in-house training programs.

* One or more years' experience with Management Plans to include Police, Fire and Life Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Plans

* Experience with preparing evidence presentations for court and working with courtroom work groups.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six to twelve months of experience required at the lower level Facilities Police Corporal (PST070) or position equivalent AND P.O.S.T. certification OR Associate's degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience AND P.O.S.T. certification OR Two years of experience required at the lower level Facilities Police Corporal (PST070) or position equivalent AND P.O.S.T. certification.
