This position supports the dining team by ensuring cleanliness, performing light maintenance, and assisting with setting up and breaking down events. The Porter is also responsible for the daily cleaning of the kitchen and kitchen equipment, following detailed lists provided by the Kitchen Manager. The Porter interacts with residents, staff, and visitors, contributing to a positive living and dining experience.RequirementsKey Responsibilities:1. Facility Maintenance:•Ensure cleanliness and organization of dining areas, kitchens, lobbies, and other common spaces.•Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces.•Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper disposal.•Maintain cleanliness of outdoor spaces such as patios or dining terraces.2. Kitchen Cleaning and Equipment Maintenance:•Responsible for the daily cleaning of the kitchen, including all countertops, floors, and equipment.•Follow a detailed cleaning checklist provided by the Kitchen Manager to ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and sanitized properly.•Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.•Clean and sanitize all food prep areas to meet health and safety standards.3. Dining Area Support:•Set up dining areas for meal services, including arranging tables, chairs, and decorations.•Assist with bussing tables during and after meal services.•Clean and sanitize dining tables, chairs, and other surfaces as needed.•Restock supplies, such as napkins, utensils, and condiments, in dining areas.4. Event Assistance:•Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for special events or meetings.•Coordinate with dining and activities teams to ensure event spaces are prepared and presentable.5. Light Maintenance Duties:•Perform minor maintenance tasks.•Notify maintenance staff or supervisors of significant repair needs.6. Resident & Staff Interaction:•Provide courteous assistance to residents and staff, addressing concerns or questions promptly.•Deliver supplies, furniture, or other items as requested.7. Compliance & Safety:•Adhere to all safety and sanitation protocols, including OSHA and facility-specific guidelines.•Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.•Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to supervisors.Qualifications:•High school diploma or equivalent preferred.•Previous experience in custodial, housekeeping, or food service support roles preferred.•Ability to read and speak English to follow instructions and communicate effectively with staff and residents.•Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools, and equipment, particularly for kitchen settings.•Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.Key Attributes:•Strong work ethic and attention to detail.•Friendly and approachable demeanor, with a focus on providing excellent service.•Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.•Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment.Physical Requirements:•Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.•Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.•Capability to work in a variety of environments, including kitchens, dining areas, and outdoor spaces.Reports To: Dining Services Director or Facilities ManagerSalary Description $16 - $19
