Summary / objective of position:The Portfolio Manager Assistant, located in the Columbus office, proactively assists Portfolio Manager(s) in all aspects of portfolio management. Responsible for managing the administrative functions within each workgroup. This requires the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks with the Client Support Assistant.
Essential functions of position: - Maintain a strong knowledge of client accounts and individual objectives
- Provide awareness of investment compliance issues concerning client portfolios versus the composite
- Recommend solutions on the following subject matters:
- Rebalance accounts based on investment objective
- Cash levels and pace of investments
- Non-representative accounts
- Non-model securities as directed by Portfolio Manager
- Process the Buy Run, cutback and sell lists providing recommendations to Portfolio Manager
- Must be familiar with model portfolio and investment rationale for each holding
- Work closely with Client Support Assistant(s) to handle administrative tasks, client and prospect meeting preparations, and account transfer process
- Assist Portfolio Manager(s) on client communications
- Assist with client projects such as stock holding research, insurance policy assessments and review of outside assets
- Professional development progress toward CFA (preferred) or CFP is expected
- Anticipate and creatively develop guidance to assist clients through estate planning, charitable giving and other similar investment approaches. Various duties and responsibilities that may be required by Portfolio Manager(s)
Preferred education and experience - Four-year undergraduate degree (finance or business related preferred)
- 0-3+ years of industry related experience strongly preferred
- Must be organized and detail oriented
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Must have an interest in investments
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Able to work in a team environment
- Must demonstrate a high level of initiative
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to represent Johnson Investment Counsel externally

Work environment: Temperature controlled, office environment
Physical demands: Must be able to stand or sit at computer for 8+ hours per day. May require extensive typing at times.
