Position Type: Support Staff/ParaeducatorDate Posted: 10/9/2024Location: Carl Ben Eielson Middle SchoolDate Available: ImmediateDistrict: Fargo Public Schools Job Type Full time Benefits Eligibility Benefits Eligible Schedule 9-months Monday through Friday Salary Range Group 4 $19.45 to $24.39 per hourPosition Purpose The Positive Behavior Technician implements behavior support plans using discrete trial training, shaping and chaining, prompting, and differential reinforcement, assisting the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) team. This position starts out at a range of $19.45 to $24.39/hour. Once the required training is completed, the range will go to $22.54 to $28.03/hour. Responsibilities 1. Student Behavior Management: with specific training in applied behavior analysis, supporting whole group and small group, restorative practices, and trauma-informed practices, works with identified students to increase positive behavior. Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 80% Examples of this work include:
  • Implements students' behavior support plans with fidelity inside the students' environments (e.g., classroom, recess, lunch, PE).
  • Collects data including frequency, duration, Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence (ABC), and interval data to assist the PBI, MTSS team, and BCBA in developing and adjusting student behavior support plans.
  • Follows expectations prescribed by PBI, MTSS team, or BCBA for student programming, progress monitoring, and data collection.
2. Professional Development: maintains, acquires, and expands position related theory and technical knowledge. Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 10%When the required training is completed and submitted to Human Capital, the higher wage rate will be effective on the following pay period.
  • Completes and maintains annual certification for Ukeru prior to hiring or within two (2) months from hire date.
  • Completes and maintains annual certification for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Training prior to hiring or within two (2) months from hire date.
  • Completes 40 hours of applied behavior analysis training prior to hire or within four (4) months from hire date.
  • Completes Catalyst Supporting Whole Group Classroom Leadership or Support Success of Individual Students within one (1) year from hire date.
  • Completes Introduction to Restorative Practices within one (1) year form hire date.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities in the area of Special Education and/or Regular Education Standards-Based Education; Participates in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
3. General Support: other duties as assigned. Priority: Secondary Percent of Time: 10% Examples of this work include:
  • Contributes to the implementation of special projects when assigned.
  • Provides general student supervision as needed. This includes but is not limited to locations indoors and outdoors, such as the lunchroom, bus stops, playground, classroom, field trips, public transportation, assemblies, and kitchen.
  • Participates in general staff meetings when requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 40 hours of applied behavior analysis training prior to hire or within four (4) months from hire date
  • One-year experience working with complex behaviors in the field of human services, education, or a similar field
  • Strong content knowledge in core academic areas (literacy and math)
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience serving diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in education, child development, psychology, or a similar field
  • Experience managing intense behaviors
  • Experience working in a school setting
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) or Response to Intervention (RtI)
