QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience

PhD, 5-10 years of lab work in neuroscience or molecular biology. Neuroscience or molecular biology and mouse genetics because we study memory and behavior in mice.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Think independently about long-term projects and come up with your own ideas with minimum supervision. It is expected that a postdoc will introduce new and innovative ideas to the lab work, often without suggestions from the PI or other lab members. Intensive work with current literature is a must. Design short-term and long-term parts of the project and experiments on your own. Be able to interact with the PI and under his supervision make changes in the experimental design in a timely manner. Being able to work independently with minimum supervision and being able to train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students.

PCR machine, qPCR machine, water maze, shuttle box, optogenetics.

Overview Statement

Being able to independently work with growing DNA and cloning in bacteria, perform behavior experiments, DNA mutagenesis, work with viruses, inject viruses in the mouse brain, RNA in situ hybridization, RNAseq, bioinformatics. Importantly, being able to learn new techniques and use those quickly and obtain results.
