Shift: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM (flexibility to work overtime)

About This Role

The Post Harvest Lead is responsible for leading and guiding the Packaging and Trim Teams through the daily processes related to the processing of medical and adult use marijuana on behalf of Common Citizen. Directly responsible for leading Post Harvest Citizens through the execution of daily tasks which are vital to Common Citizen's ability to produce the highest quality marijuana, including but not limited to, disseminating information, providing regular supervision, and status updates to the Post Harvest Captain.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clarity and consistency to maintain a positive and progressive team atmosphere.
  • Assign work schedules and duties to processing staff for Trim and/or Packaging.
  • Trim, weigh, package, and collect data for harvested plants.
  • Lead daily Packaging, Trim and Automation room kick-off meetings while maintaining the Production Control Boards and Inventory Board.
  • Oversee all stages of packaging, automated packaging, and trimming.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to Post Harvest Supervisor and Director relating to weights, measures, and quantities.
  • Directly manage all stages of trimming through the transfer to the Quarantine Room.
  • Identify and communicate problems such as mold, diseases, and insects that may negatively impact quality.
  • Oversee daily and weekly cleaning assignments.
  • Ensure sanitation standards are followed regarding process equipment maintenance and finished goods production equipment.
  • Mitigate Waste / Product and Process Defects.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure process and product quality align with company standards.
  • Ensure Citizens maintain a clean and tidy workspace (5-S Standard).
  • Collaborate with all Citizens in improving daily tasks, proper training, and provide process audits with a passion for Continuous Improvement.
  • Provide timely and professional feedback to Citizens on job performance.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while remaining on task.
  • Communicate verbally and in written communication using electronic media such as Slack and Outlook Email.
  • Update Standard Work and visual management (quality alerts).
  • Perform data entry on applications such as Excel and Microsoft forms.
  • Consolidate data for end of day reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Experience You Bring and the Skills We Need:

  • Degree in Horticulture, Biology, Agriculture, or equivalent preferred, but not required. Experience in agricultural or food safety/handling industry is acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of basic MS Office and METRC; LeafLogix is a plus.
  • Efficient cultivation/production work ethic with application of Lean tools.
  • Knowledge in areas such as plant diseases, insects and fungi, fertigation, plant treatment processes, cannabis finished goods product manufacturing, and extraction equipment.
  • Proactive Leader, able to influence others in a professional and courteous manner, encouraging Lean Thinking and Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability to Standards of Work.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic team environment with varying daily tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a greenhouse environment (tolerance of heat & humidity).
