The Cancelas Lab seeks a Postdoctoral Scientist to study platelet biology in the context of platelet preservation and transfusion. The applicant should have a doctoral degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, or a related field, and a strong interest in blood research. The applicant should also be highly self-motivated and have a track record of publications (first-authored publications in respected journals). Applicants with experience in hematology, coagulation, platelet biology, mouse genetics, flow cytometry and/or bioinformatics analyses are a plus.

The candidate will assume an operational leadership role in a multi-disciplinary research team comprising clinicians, laboratory technicians, and bioinformaticians within the Cancelas laboratory and across DFCI and partner institutions. The candidate will, under the mentorship of Dr. Cancelas, design experiments to define biological mechanisms of platelet survival and function, coordinate with wet lab and computational collaborators in functional and molecular analyses of cells derived from primary murine and human platelets.
