The postdoctoral researcher will work on Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Project (OSNAP), an NSF-funded project that is part of a large, international effort to quantify the transport of heat, freshwater, and mass in the subpolar North Atlantic from moorings and other data (www.o-snap.org). The SIO OSNAP project is focused on the Irminger Sea, including transports along the southeast Greenland shelf and slope and linkages to freshwater inputs from Greenland to the Arctic.The initial term of the appointment will be 12 months, with the possibility of extension for another year based on performance.Job Responsibilities:The individual will be expected to conduct independent, high-quality research in physical oceanography; publish papers; and present work at national and international conferences. The postdoctoral researcher will also work collaboratively with oceanographers at OSNAP partner institutions both within and outside of the US.Qualifications:A PhD in physical oceanography or a related field is required by the time of appointment. Experience in collecting and analyzing physical oceanographic data is desirable but not indispensable.
