POSITION SUMMARY: Set up, adjust, and operate powder coating equipment to produce high-quality products to the required specifications in a batch powder environment. Essential Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality finishes on manufactured parts using powder coating processes. Must possess proficiency with the process from start to finish;
- Utilize powder coating equipment such as application equipment, ovens, etc. to ensure thickness, hardness, and adhesion meet quality standards;
- Ability to inspect mil thickness, use gloss meters, millage gauges, and IR thermometer;
- Perform in-process measurements and record results via CMC smart form;
- Demonstrate knowledge of the pre-treatment and cleaning processes;
- Work successfully from drawings and specifications to ensure all parts are properly painted and work instructions are properly followed;
- Responsible for machine daily maintenance checks;
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of equipment, fixtures, and tooling;
- Accurately record CMC traveler documentation;
- Perform a variety of general machine shop work required or other duties as assigned by the supervisor;
- Assist in the management of the facility's regulated hazardous waste;
- Attend initial and annual RCRA training for hazardous waste shipping/handling;
- Adhere to Employee's responsibilities outlined in Cygnus' Health & Safety Policy.
Additional Skills & Responsibilities:
- High school education or equivalent with Vo-Tech or Technical School background;
- Previous experience required with strong knowledge of powder coating techniques and methods including metal preparation and bake/cure curves of various powders;
- Must maintain knowledge of RCRA Hazardous Waste Management;
- The ability to wear a respirator is required;
- Excellent mechanical ability is highly desirable;
- Must be able to stand for long periods;
- Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment (including hot, cold, and/or noisy areas);
- Frequent hand-to-finger, handle, feel objects & tools, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing;
- May be required to work up to overtime hours based on business needs;
- Physically submit to periodic drug tests (employment is contingent upon favorable results).
