Powerhouse Locomotive ElectricianJob Description#LI-DNI#ZR7Job DescriptionPerforms the duties of locomotive mechanic involved in inspecting, repairing, fabricating, and maintaining historic diesel/electric locomotives to meet and exceed FRA regulations for positive, safe and reliable customer experience while maintaining a clean and respectable fleet appearance.DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).Inspect equipment components for compliance with FRA, Association of American Railroads (AAR), APTA (American Public. Transportation Association) and CVSR standards.Diagnoses malfunctions in diesel engines, air equipment, trucks or other components to determine nature of problem and needed repair or replacement.Perform emergency repairs to locomotives.Replaces locomotive and diesel engine components including but not limited to wheels or trucks, traction motors, springs, couplers, draft gear assembly, gear cases, cylinder heads, air compressors, and turbo chargers.Performs daily service of locomotive units: fuels, waters, lubricates and oils; wipes down and cleans unit/windows; checks supplies and drinking water.Performs periodic and annual inspections and understands FRA regulations pertaining to inspectionsOperate light and heavy cranes, fork lifts, car moving equipment, and other various vehicles.Operate electrical and gas welding equipment to join a variety of metals and alloys; operate acetylene torches for cutting and/or shaping metal parts such as aluminum, cast iron, steel.Maintain written and computer records for maintenance and repairs as required.Performs other duties as assigned.Typical hours during Production are 6am-4:30pm M-TH.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or GED.Prior Locomotive maintenance experience.Valid driver's license.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance by maintaining locomotives to FRA standards
Works with technicians to coordinate, schedule, and perform routine maintenance inspections on locomotives and track mobiles
Trouble shoots locomotives to identify problems and help determine what repairs are needed
Utilizes electronic work order system to log parts used and document work performed
Safely and efficiently operates forklift in warehouse
Must be familiar with and comfortable working around high voltage and rotating equipment.
Assists with any other tasks as needed
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience working on diesel engines
Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical systems
Knowledge / understanding of EMD locomotives
Minimum Job Qualifications:
18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
Stable work history with good references from past employers.
Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
Speak fluent English
Previous short line RR or mobile locomotive repair experience is a desired
Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures a plus.
