eliminating racism empowering women YWCA Lancaster YWCA Lancaster is looking for full-time Pre-K Counts Assistant Teacher, who is an integral part of our team.What your day looks like:
- Assist lead teacher in the development and implementation of lesson plans based on developmentally age-appropriate activities, to provide the children with a consistent daily routine.
- Assist in the implementation of lesson plans for activities based on the needs of the children and prepare a suitable physical and nurturing environment for ALL children so that they may grow physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
- Ensure that the Child Enrichment Center meets licensing and all other legal compliance regulations including Department of Human Services (DHS), Keystone STARS, Pre-K Counts, and Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
- Maintain a team atmosphere within the room.
- Assist in the instruction and implementation of daily activities and creation of a positive, stimulating room environment.
- Assess the children in their classroom by using developmental assessments twice per year. Assists with recording data into the Teaching Strategies Gold System before scheduled deadlines.
- Hold parent/teacher conferences twice a year.
- Maintain appropriate interactions with children, parents, and staff.
- Work cooperatively with the Center Director and staff to uphold a positive affiliation within the YWCA childcare programs (including, but not limited to Early Head Start, Pre-K Counts, and School Age Development program)
- Participate within the guidelines of the Pre-K Counts grant, by meeting the requirements of the mentoring expectation within the partnership agreement.
- Stay familiar with all YWCA Lancaster policies and procedures, Childcare Manual procedures, Keystone STARS to ensure program quality
- Orient new parents and staff to room and meet with parents when needed.
- Attending monthly staff meetings.
- Attend a minimum of 27 hours of training per year.
- Maintain a current Professional Development Plan for Keystone STARS.
- Advocate for Early Childhood Education programs in Pennsylvania.
- Enforce center policies with parents, students, and children by upholding and demonstrating the YWCA mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or required by Pre-K Counts grant guidelines.
Who you are:
- A bachelor's degree in early childhood education from an accredited college or university in early childhood education and two years' experience related to the care and development of children.
- Certification in early childhood education preferred.
- Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and have movement ability to sit, stand, crawl, climb, lift overhead, bend and move from sitting position on floor to standing position.
- Respect for children and their parents, as well as a belief in the individuality of each child, a commitment to the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women.
- Bi-lingual a plus
