JOB SUMMARYPre-Team Coaches provide proper instruction and improvement on all fundamental competitive swimming skills. As a coach, you will lead structured, challenging, well-supervised classes that will prepare and recruit swim team members. Be a role model for youth building positive relationships in the sport of swimming!
- Schedule for this position will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:45pm - 7:45pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Lead a practice group following proper stroke progressions and curriculum, planning and organizing daily activities to meet needs of weekly curriculum.
- Interact and assist swimmers with their technique by actively correcting form, recognizing individual differences and adjusting teaching strategies.
- Assist with preparation and tear down of practice needs.
- Instruct Pre-team and Pre-season swim classes and clinics.
- Work with youth age 6-13 in preparing swim team readiness.
- Work as part of a team with other coaches, the aquatic staff and the center staff.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and swimmers, greeting all swimmers by name at all practices. Serve as a liaison to the Head Coach.
- Know and follow YMCA procedures for incidents and injuries. Attend all assigned practices, communicating substitutions and following absence procedures.
- Support fundraising initiatives.
- Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes:
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
SKILLS AND TRAINING - Applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Lifesaving, CPR and First Aid certifications are required within the first 60 days of employment.
- Competitive Swimming experience preferred.
- Computer and/or Smart phone technology experience preferred.
- Ability to organize, lead and work well with youth.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings required.

- Physical requirements - Job is performed mostly in an indoor pool environment, with some outdoor practices or meets. The ability to stand for extended periods of time in addition walking deck and occasional crouch, stoop, kneel, and/or lift at least 50 pounds will be necessary. Ability to project voice in a noisy environment.
