Coordinate and administer programs, projects and activities related to agricultural research, on-farm trials, and other grant related programs, as well as provide specialized technical expertise in these areas to support designated University research initiatives and areas. Conduct integrated research and provide technical support and related comprehensive educational programs in the area of precision agriculture with the agricultural community.

This position will be instrumental in assisting UVM Extension in the development of an on-farm network data clearinghouse where on-farm trial results will be disseminated. This position will help the agricultural community adopt precision agriculture technology and practices on their operations. Lastly, the position will be responsible for development and implementation of precision agriculture research with the on-farm network. This position reports to the UVM Extension Agronomic Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, preferably in agricultural management, precision agriculture, sustainable agriculture, environmental science, soil science, or related field. At least 3 years of dairy agriculture knowledge, on-farm experience, academic research in agriculture, or working directly with farmers. Knowledge of precision agriculture, sustainable agriculture, and organic and commercial farm systems. Effective written and verbal communication skills required to work with researchers, farmers, and the general public. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak in public. Strong data collection and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and problem-solve. Technical and creative writing skills and proficiency in the use of computers and other electronic technologies required. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel.

Desirable qualifications include the ability to work well with a wide range of people and adapt to changing situations on a daily basis.

Anticipated Pay Range $45,000 to $58,000 Other Information

Special Conditions Position located in different city, Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Travel to and from worksites required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position FLSA Exempt Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate)
