Start the next chapter of your career with Crane Aerospace & Electronics!Job Summary:The Precision Grinder operates precision grinding machines to produce parts according to established blueprint and engineering specifications.Essential Functions:Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operationMeasure work pieces and lay out work, using precision measuring devicesSelect machine tooling to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirementsStudy blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequencesMount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, centers, or other tool holding devices, as well as using hand toolsActivate machine start-up switches to grind or cut work pieces, according to specificationsInspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers, holding tolerances of +/- .001 to .00002 on Inside Diameter (I.D) & Outside Diameter (O.D), and checking parts to Blueprint requirementsLift and position work pieces, manually on machine tables, faceplates, or chucks, using clampsSet up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, or polish metal or plastic work piecesObserve machine operations to detect any problems; make any necessary adjustments to correct problemsAny other task assigned by supervisor or managementMinimum Qualifications:Experience: 3+ years of experience in Inside Diameter & Outside Diameter grind machiningKnowledge: Working knowledge as a Precision Grinder in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentSkills/Abilities: Cylindrical grinding, Centerless, and Inside Diameter/Outside Diameter grindingEducation/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalentEligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).Preferred Qualifications:Studer S20, Inside Diameter & Outside Diameter grind machine experienceWorking Conditions:Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPEAbility to lift objects up to 25 lbs.Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessaryStanding: 100%Sitting: 0%Lifting (in pounds): up to 25 poundsPushing (in pounds): up to 25 poundsMental/Visual: Use of microscope and computer.Workspace (line, cube, etc.): clean benchTop Benefits:Salary range: $19.78 to $33.85. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
