Team Members are our front line to the customer, and our key partner in delivering the RITE Values, providing the RITE Service, and the RITE Selection every day.Job SummaryThe Produce Manager is accountable to the Store Manager/ Assistant Store Manager and is responsible in the Produce department for maximizing sales, protection of company assets, store conditions, presentation, control of losses, and contributes to the company's operating objectives.Essential Job FunctionsPerformance of the essential functions of this position require the Team Member to possess the minimum qualifications listed below. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manages 10-15 subordinates. Responsibilities include training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Maintains store conditions per company standard to improve profitability.
  • Maximizes department sales and profits.
  • Develops and maintains a team concept to improve associate morale, communications, non-union status, working conditions.
  • Maximizes store profits and gross profit through effective merchandising.
  • Achieves or surpasses productivity and payroll goals in each department.
  • Maintains customer service levels according to company standards.
  • Complies with company and governmental sanitation standards.
  • Ensures weekly on-hand inventory goals through proper ordering practices.
  • Manages others and adhere to company human resource and personnel policies as well as state and federal laws.
  • Establish a working relationship with all support staff and supervisors.
  • Develop a daily/weekly workload plan, coordinate responsibilities and follow through to maximize results.
  • Executes merchandising directives.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and safe use of equipment.
  • Ensure proper usage compliance and handling of all supplies.
  • Responsible for opening or closing store, where applicable.
  • Establish community involvement.
  • Has a Company recognized Food Safety Certification and/ or can successfully complete training to receive and maintain a Company recognized Food Safety Certification

Requirements Responsibilities are inclusive of but not limited to:
  • Provide 24 hour, 7 day a week coverage including most holidays
  • Utilize multiple computer mainframe environments and various PC software
  • Handle all inquiries and problems related to store orders and deliveries and provide other general assistance and support
  • Adjust store orders, acknowledging a vast assortment of criteria
  • Process the necessary paperwork to create store pickups
  • Document all information reported by customers pertaining to shortages, overages, misselections, damages and spoilages and apply the appropriate Wakefern procedure or credit policy
  • Investigate, analyze and troubleshoot various store delivery problems
  • Monitor the transmission and loading of all store orders (approximately 7000 orders per week)
  • Record store-requested alternate schedule changes for Supervisory implementation
  • Record and maintain time-sensitive information needed for various reporting purposes
  • Communicate different information to and from our membership
  • Act as liaison between the stores and Wakefern Quality Assurance Dept. for the processing of recall information
  • Assist in coordinating the basic aspects of Wakefern's Direct Delivery Program , e.g., research missing orders, troubleshoot scanning failures, place additional orders
To be considered a candidate must meet the minimum qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have completed 24 college credits with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better
  • Will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school for Fall of 2020
  • Valid driver's license and flexibility with regard to travel required
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Self starter with demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation)
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of Lotus Notes and Access a plus)
  • Ability to exhibit proper business etiquette when dealing with all levels of the organization
  • Previous work experience in a retail environment is beneficial
