The Role Apollo is seeking a relationship-driven and detail-oriented Principal to support corporate origination and coverage. The Principal will work with senior origination team members to help further build out a corporate origination strategy across all Apollo's strategies to enhance deal flow and work alongside investment teams to drive transactions forward. This is an entrepreneurial role on a lean and growing team within a leading asset manager with strong upward career potential. Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with senior team members to identify new origination channels and prospective targets across a variety of sectors and market themes
  • Originate, process and perform initial screens to advance large volumes of investment opportunities
  • Identify new and cultivate existing investment themes to increase quality and quantity of pipeline
  • Help manage account coverage responsibilities with investment banks, management teams and other brokers / service providers
  • Responsible for working with investment teams to quarterback execution including assisting on internal processes to advance deals and enhance our likelihood of success
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Apollo's capabilities and cross-platform transaction activity to ensure the adequate knowledge and familiarity exists to effectively pitch the entire Apollo platform
  • Attend relevant industry events and conferences to foster relationships
  • Leverage technology to track and measure relationship building and deal flow activity in CRM system, including assisting in quarterly reports that synthesizes team origination efforts and results into digestible summary dashboards
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably within finance, accounting, and/or economics
  • 5-7 years of relevant industry experience in investment banking, the buyside or other transactional work
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen to process large volumes of transactions
  • Team-oriented professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to take initiative on dynamic tasks and responsibilities
  • Nimble and flexible to balance multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail - need to possess a passion, drive and sense of urgency for the work involved
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving skills to pitch and generate unique investment solutions to complex problems that aren't well defined or solved by traditional financing sources
  • Collaborative and able to effectively communicate within lean investment teams and work independently to drive processes forward with limited guidance
  • Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment
  • Resourceful, extremely organized, process-oriented, data-driven and tech savvy
  • Proven track record of academic and professional success and achievement

Pay Range $300,000 The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
