Apply today!Job Description The Fleet Projects organization is looking for a project manager to be responsible for the engineering and procurement deliverables associated with the LOS ANGELES Class and USS JIMMY CARTER Refueling Overhauls. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing traditional project management principles, practices, and tools. Responsibilities include actively and effectively managing the charter, work breakdown structure, scope, cost estimates, risks, change control, metrics, and schedules. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project management, and should engage stakeholders at a technical level in order to assess project progress. The candidate is expected to frequently communicate and collaborate with all areas of the project (engineering, management, subcontractors, procurement, finance, shipyards, and the Navy customer) to reach common ground, as well as establish and reinforce a single, consistent plan. The candidate will be responsible to ensure the established project scope, and schedule are executed within budget, which is approximately $150M for each project.The successful candidate must have strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to lead teams, and have the ability to collaborate on programmatic and resource topics with multiple stakeholders. Analyzing and tracking overall project costs, including manpower and expenditures by year, source of funds, and WBS area are a significant and key component of responsibilities to ensure successful projects. This position provides a unique opportunity to work with approximately 50 organization across the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, to complete significant projects supporting the Navy's nuclear-powered fleet.Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.Preferred Skills Formal Project Management experience Experience in maintaining project schedules, analysis of financial performance, understanding of budget processes, funding sources, and technical work plans. Leadership experience including team building, influencing others, and the ability to effectively interact across a variety of groups. Experience working on integrated project teams, and development and support of the elements of project execution. Strong communication skills to provide group direction, as well as articulate issues and convey ideas throughout the organization. Experience reporting project status (e.g., A3 sheet, Earned Value, Financial, etc). MS Project or P6 experience. Innovative and creative thinking, beyond current systems and requirements. Self-motivated with the ability to work on multiple initiatives concurrently. Problem solving, analytical, written and presentation skills.
