Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Printing and Converting Manager for our Tyler, TX location who will be responsible for all aspects of the Printing, Pre-Press, and Converting Departments' operations, including personnel, machinery, schedule fulfillment, productivity, waste management, safety, environmental conditions, and housekeeping.Functional Responsibilities Monitors checklists for each job and tear samples to ensure compliance. Trains or assists in organized training to maintain sufficient skill levels in each department. Maintains a liaison with the Master Scheduler and organizes schedules and manpower to meet delivery requirements. Directs activities of subordinates, e.g., department supervisors and department operators, in addition to the in-house ink supplier. Develops training guidelines for each department and ensures results of the training are effective in meeting production and other goals. Ensures pertinent operation and ancillary information is being passed on to the department as necessary. Reviews upcoming orders and scheduling to maintain efficiency while meeting schedule requirements. Ensures packaging materials, WIP rolls, film and ink are staged and available to support scheduled orders. Writes purchase requisitions for needed items that are not of a routine nature. Maintains documentation on safety equipment, supplies, and personnel. Reviews all work order specifications for accuracy before distributing them to operators. Performs monthly inventory as directed by the Production ManagerFunctional Requirements Regular use of computers, telephones. Works as part of a team. Provides training/coaching. Initiation of new processes. Must be able to work in a plant environment moving safely in and around machines and equipment. Maintain quotas or production standards.Qualifications 5 to 7 years in a supervisory/management role in a manufacturing environment. 3 to 5 years of flexographic printing or converting processing experience. Some Post Secondary education preferred.Skills PC knowledge including MS Word and Excel. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Good interpersonal skills. Detailed orientated along with good organizational skills.
