Position DetailsClassification Information UnitJob StatusFLSAPosition Information Position Title PRINTSHOP OPERATOR Reports To Director Faculty Discipline N/A - Not Applicable Faculty is eligible for Tenure Track?Funding Source Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary Under the supervision of the Printshop Manager or designee, the Printshop Operator will be handling all graphic and technical printing on the various types of reproduction equipment.Supervisory Role Oral and written supervision is received from the Printshop Manager or designee. The Printshop Operator may supervise support staff and student workers.Duties & Responsibilities 1. Responsible for the operation of the 2-color offset, printing presses, stripping, offset camera, platemaking machines, folder, stitchers, and other related printing equipment.2. Prepare negative and positive stats, and metal plates.3. Prepare sensitized plates to opaque paper for color work.4. Perform and have thorough knowledge as a cameraman, stripper, Platemaker, and all phases of bindery operations. 5. Perform all color work with the variety of offset presses.6. Must be familiar with breakdowns and to make minor repairs on all printing equipment. 7. Responsible for special layout work.8. Perform sophisticated printing jobs on oversized paper in color or blank inks.9. Liaison between Print Shop and Graphic Layout Artist on all printing performedin-house.10. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all materials.11. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.12. Bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift.Additional RequirementsMinimum Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. High School Diploma.2. Technical expertise on all printing presses and reproduction equipment.3. Excellent interpersonal skills.4. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.5. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.Education Requirements High School Diploma Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Demonstrated experience on all printing presses and reproduction equipment2.
