Position: Private Equity Analyst – San Francisco, CA
Compensation and Benefits: Up to $150K, subject to experience. Additionally, Analysts will earn carry in the fund and a mandatory two-week sabbatical.
Background: Tobin Capital Group (TCG) is a Stanford Graduate School of Business-founded, tech-enabled real estate private equity firm and operating company. TCG owns and operates $350M in real estate. TCG has raised its first discretionary fund and aims to 5x its real estate portfolio within five years.
Opportunity: TCG's Real Estate Private Equity Team is lean and growing. The Analyst will work in person alongside TCG's Executive Team to deploy Fund I and raise subsequent funds (Fund 2 Target: $300M – $400M). As an early hire, you will achieve rapid career acceleration, assisting with acquisitions, operations and scaling TCG's culture of excellence.
The Private Equity Analyst will learn how to:
- Build and scale a world-class business
- Influence executive decisions with data
- Evaluate and acquire value-add real estate
A Stellar Performance Review after Year 1 could have the Following Elements:
- Impact operations – e.g. the Analyst partnered with the Director of Manager Success and onsite facility managers to increase tenant insurance penetration by 20%
- Impact acquisitions – e.g. the Analyst streamlined an aspect of the deal underwriting process
- The Analyst created custom, automated reports that provide unique insights into 3 areas of the business
- The Analyst contributed meaningfully to the diligence process, with moderate VP oversight
- The Analyst demonstrated the Perpetual Growth ethos and improved every week
- The Analyst exercised autonomy and thoughtful initiative – e.g. each month the Analyst asked the COO what his biggest operational challenges were and proactively found solutions
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic decision making and execution based on rigorous data analysis
- Creating financial models, conducting due diligence, and closing transactions
- Dynamic problem solving requiring common sense, global thinking and high initiative
Qualifications:
- 0 – 3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting or high-octane operating roles
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, communication and technical skills (incl. Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- High integrity with strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to travel for due diligence / meetings
- Hunger to learn and a humble “can do” attitude
