Bluestone Investment Partners, a private equity firm in the Washington-Metro area, is seeking an Associate to join our team. Bluestone focuses on investing in lower middle-market defense and government technology companies and our senior investment professionals have decades of experience acquiring, operating, and selling companies in the sector. Bluestone is currently investing out of its third Fund and anticipates undertaking fundraising efforts for Fund IV in 2025.

Qualified Associate candidates must exhibit a strong history of academic achievement with 1 to 3 years of work experience in the areas of private equity, investment banking, transaction advisory support services, merger and acquisition related consulting, leveraged finance, or accounting.

The Private Equity Associate will:

  • Have an interest in the defense and government services arena, preferably with some experience
  • Participate in the sourcing of investment opportunities including the development of materials for meetings with prospective investment targets
  • Create and analyze financial models and contract waterfalls related to potential portfolio company investments and add-on acquisitions
  • Participate in the execution of all phases of diligence and financing for potential investments
  • Be involved in portfolio company monitoring
  • Research and track industry and macroeconomic trends affecting portfolio companies

This position provides extensive exposure to high-profile, senior-level executives of leading lower middle-market companies. Applicants should exhibit polished verbal and written communication skills and are expected to possess a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Training and support for career development is provided.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Exceptional analytical skills and demonstrated interest in the defense and government technology industry
  • Fluency with financial statements and financial modeling
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work streams in order to meet deadlines that are critical for the investment decision-making process
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require now, or in the future, visa sponsorship
