LVN- Licensed Vocational Nurse
A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at a nursing home is responsible for providing basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or physician. Their duties may include:
Administering Medications: LVNs are responsible for administering medication to patients and ensuring that the right dosage is given at the right time. They also monitor the patient's response to the medication and report any adverse reactions to the RN or physician.
Providing Basic Nursing Care: LVNs assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. They also help with feeding, toileting, and transferring patients from bed to chair or wheelchair.
Recording Vital Signs: LVNs record and report vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate. They also monitor and report changes in the patient's condition to the RN or physician.
Assisting with Procedures: LVNs assist with medical procedures such as wound care, catheterization, and tracheostomy care.
