We are looking for a Process Control and Automation Engineer to join our Global Engineering team in Geismar, LA or Freeport, TX.

Travel for this role might be between 30% and 40% of the time.

We are seeking a professional like you to join our Automation, Controls, and Electrical team within the Technical Expertise department. As a member of our team, your main responsibility will be to excel in effectively identifying, championing, implementing, and maintaining Process Automation Systems, with a specialized focus on Process Control Technology. Additionally, you will contribute to our organization's commitment to digitalization and sustainability, ensuring that our manufacturing sites in North America achieve Operational Excellence while minimizing environmental impact.

**As a Process Control and Automation Engineer, you create chemistry by...**

+ Providing visionary leadership by leveraging automation and control to address modern challenges and drive sustainability goals at BASF sites.

+ Collaborating with diverse global teams at BASF to harness collective expertise and drive meaningful positive impacts.

+ ?Guiding and supporting sites in their transformation towards achieving autonomous operations and digitalization in process automation, encompassing AI in Operations, Vertical Integration, and State-based control.

+ Leading the development and implementation of best practices across the organization, acting as a regional and global expert in the field.

+ Traveling to BASF sites to lead and support efforts in improving automation and process control challenges, including optimization, debottlenecking, troubleshooting root causes, implementing best practices, and identifying opportunities for new technology.

+ Providing valuable expertise in modernization and migration projects, encompassing tasks such as developing project scopes, creating functional design specifications, evaluating vendor proposals, and designing innovative implementation plans.

+ Demonstrating exceptional leadership capabilities in successfully managing complex projects.

**If you...**

+ Hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, accompanied by 10+ years of experience in process control projects within the Chemicals, Refining, or Petrochemicals industry. Advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering will be considered as relevant experience.

+ Demonstrate expertise and proficiency in process control technology, with a track record of successfully identifying, championing, implementing, and maintaining Process Automation Systems.

+ Enjoy learning new technology and leveraging it to solve the challenges faced in the chemical industry.

+ Exhibit leadership capabilities in managing migration and greenfield projects, and possess a strong background in instrumentation and controls, coupled with extensive knowledge of chemical processes.

+ Can quickly learn and analyze complex chemical processes, identify opportunities for improvement, effectively organize and collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present a compelling business case for change to operational managers.

+ Have working experience with one or more of the following control systems: ABB 800xa, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell TDC / Experion, Schneider Foxboro and Siemens PCS7.
