POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for configuration and support of plant control and information systems (DCS/PLC) to ensure safe, reliable continuous operation of plant production units. The process control specialist role supports all aspects of the plant control system - administration, back-up, troubleshooting & maintenance, operations support and other modifications to ensure safe and efficient operations.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

* Develop into key resource for daily support of Emerson ProVOX and DeltaV configuration and troubleshooting

* Develop in depth system knowledge of DCS hardware and networks.

* Ownership for execution support of site ProVOX/DeltaV migration Plan

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide programming and configuration support, including graphics, to sustain and improve daily plant operations

* Monitor performance of all control programming and coordinate with maintenance and operations to improve performance

* Support DCS configuration and checkout, including loop and functional logic checks of soft and hard I/O points

* Perform routine system maintenance, including ensuring all databases are updated, performing backup procedures, and performing interlock checks

* Support other systems as needed (e.g. data historian, yield accounting, PCN, etc.)

* Support plant process alarm management efforts

* Coordinate and manage third-party DCS support

* Must be willing to roll up one's sleeves and chip in where needed.

TEAM

* Reports to: Decatur Process Controls Manager

* Team Members: Two (2) process controls technicians, One (1) process controls engineer (vacant)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

* 2-year technical degree in electronics, computer science or related field

* 3 to 5 years related experience in a chemical or petrochemical facility

* Demonstrated aptitude to be trained on DCS, PLC and instrumentation

REQUIRED SKILLS

* Hands-on experience working with DCS hardware and software

* Experienced in loop checks, function checks, logic controllers, process controls, control configurations, graphics, and DCS/PLC communication networks

* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others

* Experience in tuning control loops

* Excellent problem solving and time management skills

* Requires knowledge of computer technology including network equipment, communication protocols and infrastructure, operating systems, special application software

* Ability to learn Emerson Platforms/ DeltaV hardware and software
