IS&T is recruiting for a Process Engineer Level 2 for a full time role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality process engineering designs and documentation in alignment with standard procedures. This role involves technical collaboration, process simulation, and the production of key deliverables, all while ensuring quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) are met. The candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary project teams to meet project deadlines and maintain budgetary controls, while also developing industry knowledge and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Collaboration:

  • Review deliverables with peers and supervisors.
  • Perform QA/QC checks on generated deliverables (intra- and inter-disciplinary).
  • Participate in department meetings, lunch-and-learns, and training sessions.
  • Create process engineering deliverables in accordance with the RACI model (Responsible, Accountable, Consultative, Informed).

Process Simulation & Design:

  • Develop and review Block Flow Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform Process Safety Valve (PSV) calculations/sizing.
  • Contribute to operating procedures, flare studies, and vendor data technical evaluations.
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary technical deliverables such as design basis, line lists, equipment sizing, datasheets, and control narratives.
  • Provide process conditions for instrument and Control Valve (CV) datasheets.

Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project team members to discuss progress and deadlines for process-specific deliverables.
  • Participate in internal and external kickoff meetings, weekly status meetings, and design/model review meetings.
  • Monitor project schedules and flag any issues related to budget or deadlines.
  • Assist in project close-out, including compiling job books.

Continuous Development:

  • Review calculations, design guidelines, and industry standards to enhance technical comprehension.
  • Address QA/QC comments and redlines on deliverables to continuously improve quality.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of projects.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • years of experience in process engineering, ideally within a relevant industry (e.g., oil & gas, manufacturing, etc.).
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools and software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or similar).
  • Experience in developing P&IDs, PFDs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across interdisciplinary teams.

  • Ensure that all process-specific deliverables adhere to QA/QC guidelines.
