About You and this RoleYou will perform all work activities in a team environment following operating disciplines, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties related to the function. You must have the physical ability to lift hoses to climb ladders and stairs through multiple levels, bolt flanges, operate valves, and similar equipment as a normal part of the job. You must be able to work in confined spaces and wear personal protective equipment. You will use troubleshooting skills to resolve deviations and problems, within the process and accurately complete all required paperwork. You would need to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve all process issues.
Responsibilities- Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products
- Controlling, monitoring and adjustment of all control systems and manually operated equipment
- Identification of equipment requiring maintenance
- Clearing and tagging equipment as required and issuing Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work
- Acting as a resource for other Operators and/or Technicians on job tasks and prioritization of work activities
- Performing tasks assigned per task list
- Performing all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship
After an individual applies and meets the minimum qualifications for the position, technical testing will be scheduled. Passing the technical testing is required to move forward through the hiring process. Interviews will be scheduled with select individuals based on position requirements. If an offer is made, the individual must then complete and pass a medical, background check, and drug screen in order to start work.
Qualifications- Must be 18 years old or older
- Be able to work a rotating shift
- Must have a current, valid, United States driver license. A driver's license is required to drive 4 wheel carts through blocks and on roadways within the site. And company vehicles from time to time.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
Must meet at least ONE of the following:1. A minimum of an Associate's Degree in any field is acceptable if you meet the following criteria:
- 1 semester of College Algebra, 4 semesters of Science/Technology (computer, chemistry, biology, physics, environmental, mechanical), and 2 semesters communication classes (English, Speech, etc.).
2. 3+ years of relevant military training/experience
- Examples of Relevant military service include, but are not limited to, MOS/NEC codes like: Airforce- 2A Manned Aerospace Maintenance, Navy - GSE Gas Turbine Systems Technician, Army - Field 19 - Armor, Marines - 11 Utilities, Coast Guard - AV Avionics Technician
3. 5+ years of relevant Chemical & Manufacturing Process Operator experience (will also consider Dow Distribution Operator or similar Dow experience)
- Demonstrates excellent decision making skills and the ability to prioritize appropriately
- Has strong troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence
- Able to work with independently with minimal supervision with in an empowered team environment
- Safety focused
- Able to read, write, and speak English.
Preferred Skills - Completed the Catalyst Program in Chemical Technology-Process Operations or Instrumentation Technology pathway.
- Process Technology or any technical associates degree or higher.
- Previous Chemical Plant Mechanic, Industrial working environment or Chemical Plant Operator experience.
- Computer knowledge of Word, outlook, and Excel.
- Risk Awareness: A strong focus on safety including the use of safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Experience with operating and monitoring control systems and devices, as well as manually operated equipment. Previous use of hand tools.
- Problem Solving Skills: The ability to resolve deviations and problems within the process.
- Communication: Effective communication to resolve process issues and act as a resource for other operators and technicians.
- Detail Oriented: The ability to identify equipment requiring maintenance, clear and tag equipment, and issue Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work.
- Time Management: The ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Teamwork and Leadership: Demonstrating leadership skills, inspiring others, and working independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment.
Additional Notes- We expect a tentative start date of March 31st, 2025.
